“Have you tried turning it off and then back on again?” That must be the number one solution supplied by IT guys and gals around the globe. It works 99% of the time, and no one ever thinks of doing it. IT personal are an essential part of modern business and with technology improving year by year, and now the IT department is under more pressure and given more responsibility than ever.
In the past the CEO, CFO or the CMO was usually the biggest decision makers, now the Chief Technology Officer, or CTO has a say. Keeping up-to-date software, reliable internet bandwidth and consistently having to repaire broken computers are just some of the day-to-day activities of an IT dude that make them so important.
Being a ‘nerd’ or ‘geek’ isn’t an insult anymore – it is a way to make a living. These geeks we grew up with and made fun of now are technology directors at the world’s biggest firms. They make more moolaa than we ever will, and understand the workings of digital media better than the rest. Always respect your IT guy, she may save your ass one day. [ORSYP.com]
